Cutting Mixtures
CutMax Sprinter
A very short term, rapid growing blend designed to be sown in the spring or the autumn to provide an abundant crop of high quality forage. Frost free sites should be selected when autumn sowing as there is a risk that in a hard winter the mixture could experience some damage to the Westerwolds element. Very high yields can be expected from this mixture, and whilst Westerwolds is an annual grass it will provide at least two cuts in its harvest year. The Italian Ryegrass will ensure the full duration of this mixture.
-
Very vigorous to establish even when late sown
-
Will produce very large yields of high quality forage
-
Exhibits excellent drought tolerance
-
Responds well to high inputs
-
Good resistance to Rhynchosporium and Mildew

CutMax Extra Cut
This mixture utilises the high yields of Italian and Hybrid Ryegrass to produce large cuts of forage for up to 2 years. Both Italian and Hybrid Ryegrass are high in water soluble carbohydrate and produce very palatable forage. High sugar content also helps in the process of ensiling. Can be used as an after maize mixture.
-
Highly productive blend of Italian and Hybrid Ryegrass
-
Close heading dates allow easy prediction of optimum cutting dates
-
Suitable for intensive cutting regimes. Will reach 67D approximately 6 weeks after cutting
-
Rapid recovery after defoliation ensures reliable subsequent cuts
-
Suitable for high Nitrogen input systems
-
Offers flexibility for late season grazing
-
Capable of producing a total mean conservation yield of 16.54 t/DM/ha per annum for 2 years of production

CutMax Catch Crop
A blend of Italian Ryegrass with a multitude of uses. The formulation provides for two varieties of Diploid Italian and two varieties of Tetraploid Italian blended to provide the very best of yields and quality from a short term 2 year ley. This mixture is extremely versatile and can be sown in the spring or late summer and can also be used as an after maize mixture. Italian Ryegrass is high in water soluble carbohydrate so ensiles extremely well. A minimum level of about 12% of total dry matter is required for satisfactory fermentation although levels vary widely with weather conditions. Levels are higher in first cuts, regrowths are usually much lower and the possible benefits of additives should be considered.
-
Formulated to provide high yields in both years of production
-
Excellent levels of disease resistance
-
Close heading dates allow easy prediction of optimum cutting dates
-
Suitable for intensive cutting regimes. Will reach 67D approximately 5 weeks after cutting
-
Rapid recovery after defoliation ensures reliable subsequent cuts
-
Suitable for high Nitrogen input scenarios

CutMax Protein Plus
A mixture of up to 3 years duration designed specifically for the cutting of high quality high protein forage. The combination of Hybrid Ryegrass and Red Clover forms the perfect partnership for ease of ensiling and the production of conserved grass of the highest protein content, a combination well proven over time. Hybrid Ryegrasses of the very highest yielding potential have been included and are combined with a low oestrogen content Red Clover.
Over recent years the perception of grass and clover leys has led to a belief that in mixed situations Red Clover will provide nutrients for itself and neighbouring plants. This leads to thin strands of grass in the ley with the clover dominating the sward. The use of bag Nitrogen will help the grass to compete with the clover and will provide a more balanced conserved forage.
-
Very high yields at 67D
-
Excellent total annual yields
-
Includes Red Clover varieties of very low oestrogen content which also exhibit high yields and good protein levels
-
The protein composition of Red Clover provides greater feed value than is apparent on analysis
-
The Hybrid Ryegrass varieties give excellent yields and excellent resistance to disease
