GrassMax
GrassMax Base has been specifically designed for new reseeds where subsequent overseeding is routinely intended.

This principle allows the use of significantly higher yielding grasses and can increase annual yields by up to 30% compared to more traditional mixtures. Routine overseeding will be required however to maintain plant numbers at the necessary levels to achieve these yield benefits.

HF GRASSMAX - CUT With Red Clover
A specialist overseeding mixture containing a high level of Red Clover designed to introduce both new grass and Red Clover into silage swards. This mix can also be used to prolong the life of existing Red Clover swards provided Eelworm is not a problem.

All ingredients have large sward seeds and are capable of establishing in an existing sward
-
Grass component is 100% Tetraploid Hybrid Ryegrass which is sufficiently aggressive to compete and survive in a Red Clover sward
-
Grasses based entirely on Hybrid and Perennial Ryegrasses with the highest conservation yields on UK recommended lists
-
30% Red Clover content to ensure a good plant population in the overseeded sward
-
Excellent forage quality from both Solid and Citeliac

Guidelines for successful overseeding

BEFORE A typical sward before overseeding |
AFTER Overseeding can dramatically improve sward performance |

Field Preparation
Sowing
-
Sow at the same time as scarifying with up to 10 kg/acre (25 kg/hectare) of the appropriate Grassmax mixture
-
Where iSeed® treatment is used, as the fertiliser effectively doubles the weight of the seed, the sowing rate is double that of untreated seed
-
Roll immediately after sowing to consolidate the ground, conserve moisture and ensure good seed to soil contact
Timing
-
With untreated seed, to ensure that competition from the existing sward is minimised, the optimium overseeding window is immediately after the last silage cut of the season or after a hard graze in the Spring or Autumn
-
Although the benefit of minimising competition from the existing sward also applies to iSeed® , the increased competitiveness of iSeed® reduces the dependence in timing and may offer the opportunity of a much wider sowing window
