Perennial Ryegrass is the mainstay of a hardwearing lawn. There are excellent new varieties available including the finer leaved turf types. It is suitable for all soil types including heavy soils.

Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass
is the most suitable of the meadow grasses for turf production. It is slower to establish, produces a hardwearing lawn and will tolerate shade. It is suitable for light soils and sandy sites.

Browntop Bent is a basic ingredient for a luxury grass seed mixture. It is slower to establish, is fine leaved and has good drought resistance. It is suitable for all soil types.

Creeping Red Fescue
is fine leaved and widely used in the production of quality lawns. It has a good drought resistance, prefers sandy soils but grows in all soils except heavy clay.

Chewings Fescue and Hard Fescue
are both densely tufted grasses which blend very well with other grasses. Hard Fescue is slower to establish. Both have very good drought resistance.  They are both suitable for all soils except heavy soils.

Tall Fescue This specie takes advantage of the huge investment in breeding at DLF Trifolium.  Tall Fescue has deep roots and will produce a dense, hardwearing lawn which looks very attractive too.

Microclovers
are tiny clovers bred specially for lawn mixtures.  They provide a natural source of nitrogen for the grass, thus acting as a fertiliser which keeps the grass green and healthy.  They have been bred to stay green all the year in particular in periods of drought.  Mixtures with microclover added offer a low maintenance, low cost solution.
