DLF grass for the world's biggest golf tournament

Phoenix Open is the world's biggest golf tournament. 132 professional golfers play the 72 holes from the 4th-7th February and the organizers expect 525,000 spectators for the tournament, followed worldwide by millions of golf enthusiasts. The winner of the tournament gets $1,170,000 of the $6.5 million purse

The TPC Scottsdale crew of golf experts have until recently been busy preparing the tournament's 18 holes.

The course renovation and overseeding has involved several products from the SRO product range. Greens have been overseeded with Bentgrass blended a Poa Trivialis Blend. Fairways and Roughs were overseeded at different rates using a mixture of Chewings Fescue and Perennial Ryegrass providing a great playing surface during Scottsdales cold and overcast late winter conditions. Additional Chewings Fescue was added to the tees on the famous 16th hole (picture), where heavy shade is an issue. Watch for the interesting mounds in the large bunker before the 18th hole, planted with Tradition Fine Fescue mixture for contrast and interest.
