Sowing seed at low sowing rates can be tricky, so use DLF’s bulking granules. Made from processed maize cobs making them environmentally friendly, quickly rotting into the soil. These granules provide the perfect sowing aid for flower mixtures. Historically users have made do with kiln dried sand, which is very fine, dense and heavy, meaning the seeds separate from their carrier very quickly. The bulking granules are manufactured with seed size and weight in mind making sowing easier and quicker with more even coverage, keeping the seeds suspended and homogenised within the carrier, and providing a visible marker on the ground helping to prevent overlap.  Cheaper too than running out if calibration of the seeder isn’t quite right.

Ratios of seed to granules depend on how many total grams you need to apply, but as a guide if you were looking at sowing a standard 80/20 species rich mix at 5g/m2 then 1 part seed and 4 parts granules would give a combined sowing rate of 25g/m2, something approaching a standard grass mix
